Adding a new Vessel

So here’s some tips for adding a new vessel:

-you’ll notice that in your dashboard menu in the left column when you’re in the CMS there is a section called “Vessels”…. that is where you go to add a vessel

-I’d suggest that when you’re viewing the list of vessels (same sort of menu as pages or posts) that you roll-over the name of a vessel that is already created (in this case it’s only the Endeavor) and you’ll notice on the rollover that there is an option called “duplicate this”.  Click on that and it will duplicate the Endeavor Vessel page.  (it will by default be set in “draft” mode)   You can then swap in all the new elements for the new vessel and once it looks correct when you preview it you can change it from draft mode to “published” mode and it will appear on the site.

On that gallery of images at the bottom of the vessel page (when your on the vessel page in the CMS), you’ll note that in the Visual editor page if you click on the box that goes around the “gallery” you will get an option to click an edit button (image of a pencil).  After you click that you can add/delete images and also write the captions….

-You should also change the last part of the URL in the permalink at the top of the vessel edit page.  (to a more appropriate URL for that post) This is because you duplicated another post so the permalink from that post comes with it.  note, the link text needs to be all lower case with no spaces or weird symbols like $  or %.  hyphens are ok to indicate spaces between words.

Setting a “Featured Image” for a News post or a new Vessel

This is the image that will appear at the top of the preview box on the News post index page (landing page) or the Vessel landing page.  It would be best if the image is 368pixels wide x 200 pixels tall (or something proportionally wider).  In lieu of that, WP will crop out that proportion from the the center of the image’s height.

Changing the text at the top of the Vessels Index Page (landing page for Vessels)

This text is entered using the “Options” link in the left hand column of the dashboard.
